{"id":2326,"date":"2012-03-01T08:19:36","date_gmt":"2012-03-01T12:19:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.broadstreetbelievers.com\/?p=2326"},"modified":"2012-03-01T08:19:36","modified_gmt":"2012-03-01T12:19:36","slug":"ctc-day-three-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/broadstreetbelievers.com\/?p=2326","title":{"rendered":"CTC Day Three Recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An interesting Day Three of the 2012 CTC saw a decent amount of madness.<\/p>\n<p><em>Big South Quarterfinals<\/em><br \/>\nThis is where most of the day&#8217;s madness took place, and it wasn&#8217;t even exciting madness.\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #000000;\">VMI blew out #2-seeded Coastal Carolina, and Winthrop easily took care of #3 Campbell, setting up an incredibly unlikely semifinal.\u00a0 Dave, Doogan, Lil Lohse, Lynch, Primm, Teddy, and Waters all hit with Winthrop.\u00a0 And, the craziest part is that one of these very unlikely Big South finalists will hit REALLY big for someone.\u00a0 Both J and Lohse have 7th-seeded VMI reaching the finals; Doogan has 6th-seeded Winthrop; so, someone is in for a huge payday here.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In the nightcap, the chalk finally held, as #1 UNC-Asheville struggled early, but crushed High Point in the second half, while #4 Charleston-Southern took the opposite approach &#8211; pounding Liberty in the first half and barely holding on in the second.\u00a0 Most of the field has Asheville winning this thing, so it was nice to see the second half domination of an inferior opponent.<\/p>\n<p>The big winners here were obviously J and Lohse, who nailed the VMI pick.\u00a0 Also, Doogan, who now has his upset pick as a favorite to reach the finals, as well as the other 6 people who nailed the Winthrop upset.\u00a0 Gersh, Mac, RDoc, RSmith, and Scoot all went 1-for-4 on the day in the Big South.<\/p>\n<p><em>Ohio Valley Opening Round<\/em><br \/>\n#5 SEMO held it together and took care of E. Kentucky in the first game, costing a bunch of people a decent upset pick.\u00a0 The upset pick that did come through was Jacksonville St., who ended the interesting college career of TyShwan Edmondson, who did score 22 in his collegiate finale.\u00a0 A slew of people hit this mild upset pick and Alexi, Dave, Doogan, J, Lohse, and Teddy all keep alive JSU as a semifinalist.\u00a0 J and Teddy were the big winners, as they have JSU in the finals.\u00a0 The biggest loss here was to Gross, who had Austin Peay in the finals.\u00a0 RDoc also took a hit with AP in the semis.<\/p>\n<p>5 people (Alexi, Dave, Gersh, and both Lohses) all hit both games.\u00a0 6 people (Bry, Gross, Primm, Rikey, RSmith, and Waters) struck out, getting neither pick right.<\/p>\n<p><em>A-Sun Quarterfinals<\/em><br \/>\nIt wasn&#8217;t easy for either of the two top seeds, but both #1 Belmont and #2 Mercer came through in the A-Sun quarters.\u00a0 Bry missed the huge upset pick of Jacksonville over Belmont.\u00a0 Lynch and Waters missed the big pick of Lipscomb over Mercer.\u00a0 No one lost a finalist.<\/p>\n<p><em>WCC Opening Round<\/em><br \/>\nPortland beat Santa Clara, ending the Broncos season at 0-17 in conference.\u00a0 The only noteworthy CTC development here is that RSmith lost a quarterfinalist in Santa Clara here.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An interesting Day Three of the 2012 CTC saw a decent amount of madness.
