{"id":277,"date":"2009-03-14T12:39:45","date_gmt":"2009-03-14T17:39:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.broadstreetbelievers.com\/?p=277"},"modified":"2009-03-14T12:49:04","modified_gmt":"2009-03-14T17:49:04","slug":"ctc-day-12-preview","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/broadstreetbelievers.com\/?p=277","title":{"rendered":"CTC Day 12 Preview"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, here we go, folks.\u00a0 The 2009 CTC Title is on the line today.\u00a0 There are\u00a0a TON of points out there to be won.\u00a0 Oh, and some pretty good basketball games as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>ATLANTIC 10 CHAMPIONSHIP:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nNot exactly the matchup that anyone predicted, but it looks like the A-10 is just about guaranteed three bids this year.\u00a0 Oh, by the way, GO T-U, GO T-U, GO T-U!!!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><u>#4 Temple vs. #7 Duquesne<\/u><\/em>.\u00a0 So, the Owls have a good shot to defend their title and go back to The Dance.\u00a0 But, watch out for this gritty Duquesne team.\u00a0 No one has Duquesne here, obviously, but Bry and J both have Temple winning this tournament.\u00a0 Regardless of the outcome, Bry is going to fly the CTC A-10 championship banner this year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u><!--more-->BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIP:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nA tournament that everyone is going to be talking about for a long time is coming to a conclusion tonight in New York.\u00a0 It is certainly one I will never forget.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><u>#1 Louisville vs. #6 Syracuse<\/u><\/em>.\u00a0 Can Syracuse possibly pull this off?\u00a0 Can Louisville grad a #1 seed (I think they should have it regardless, but that&#8217;s just me)?\u00a0 No one has the &#8216;Cuse winning this, and only Doogan has L&#8217;ville.\u00a0 As far as the CTC title goes, Doogan is going to repeat as the Big East champion.\u00a0 The only question is by how much.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u><!--more-->PAC 10 CHAMPIONSHIP:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nThe Pac 10 will get anywhere from 4 to 6 bids on Sunday.\u00a0 They can guarantee a 5th if USC can pull off another upset today.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><u>#4 Arizona State vs. #6 USC<\/u><\/em>.\u00a0 James Harden is the best shooting guard in the country&#8211;hands down.\u00a0 Is is an NBA player playing in the Pac 10 this year.\u00a0 Can he lead his Sun Devils to the promised land in the Pac 10 tournament or will USC get the much-needed auto bid?\u00a0 We shall see.\u00a0 Only Waters can gain the 110 points that this ASU win will give him; everyone else has to root for USC.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>BIG XII CHAMPIONSHIP:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nUh, who?\u00a0 What did you say was the Big XII matchup?\u00a0 Really?\u00a0 What about Kansas?\u00a0 Oh, really?\u00a0 Well, how about Oklahoma?\u00a0 Texas?\u00a0 Oklahoma St?\u00a0 Well&#8230;wow.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><u>#3 Missouri vs. #9 Baylor<\/u><\/em>.\u00a0 The Baylor Bears are on a roll&#8211;and they&#8217;re very talented.\u00a0 But, their season comes down to one game.\u00a0 No one has either of these teams winning it, so the 2009 CTC Big XII trophy will say &#8220;Lynch&#8221; on it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>ACC SEMIFINALS:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nThe Final Four in the most storied basketball conference takes place on Saturday in Atlanta.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><u>#1 North Carolina vs. #4 Florida State<\/u><\/em>.\u00a0 Florida St. will try and avenge their buzzer-beating loss in Tallahassee earlier this season.\u00a0 Ty Lawson is probably not going to play, so we could see a big upset today.\u00a0 Doogan has the big FSU upset pick here; everyone else has UNC.<\/li>\n<li><em><u>#3 Duke vs. #7 Maryland<\/u><\/em>.\u00a0 Can Maryland do it again?\u00a0 They knocked off another giant Friday in Wake Forest.\u00a0 Now, they get the Dukies.\u00a0 Waters has the UMd upset pick.\u00a0 Bry and Stri have Duke.\u00a0 Everyone else had Wake.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>BIG TEN SEMIFINALS:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nFour of the top five seeds make up the Big Ten&#8217;s Final Four this year.\u00a0 The three locks for a bid will be playing in Saturday&#8217;s double-header, along with the pretty safe bubble team in OSU.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><u>#1 Michigan State vs. #5 Ohio State<\/u><\/em>.\u00a0 The Buckeyes should be in, but another win couldn&#8217;t hurt.\u00a0 The Spartans are playing for a #1 seed (which I think they should have, if they win this tournament).\u00a0 Everyone except Stri (who has eliminated Wisconsin) has Michigan St. winning this game and the whole tournament.<\/li>\n<li><em><u>#2 Illinois vs. #3 Purdue<\/u><\/em>.\u00a0 In a nice matchup here in the semis, #2 Illinois will battle #3 Purdue.\u00a0 Alexi (who had Penn St. here) is the only one without a horse in this race.\u00a0 Bry and J have Purdue, while everyone else has Illinois.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>SEC SEMIFINALS:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nThe Final Four of the SEC will take place in Tampa on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><u>#1W LSU vs. #3W Mississippi State<\/u><\/em>.\u00a0 A big semifinal between two of the better Western Division teams in the SEC.\u00a0 MSU probably can&#8217;t get in without the auto bid, but a win here would look nice.\u00a0 Bry, Waters, and Doogan all have lost this game already, having South Carolina.\u00a0 Everyone else has LSU in this one.\u00a0 Ina and J both have LSU winning the title.<\/li>\n<li><em><u>#1E Tennessee vs. #2W Auburn<\/u><\/em>.\u00a0 A bit of a surprise here as Auburn reaches the semis to take on the Vols, who are finally playing up to their potential.\u00a0 Stri has Auburn in the upset; everyone else has Tennessee.\u00a0 Lynch, Alexi, Doogan, and Bry have the Vols winning the whole thing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>AMERICA EAST CHAMPIONSHIP:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nThis tournament started early last week, as they have a week in between the semifinals and the finals.\u00a0 So, the two finalists have been preparing for this huge game for a week now.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><u>#1 Binghamton vs. #6 UMBC<\/u><\/em>.\u00a0 UMBC is trying to repeat as America East champions, while Binghamton is trying to go to their first tournament in school history.\u00a0 Bry and Ina have Binghamton.\u00a0 Lynch has UMBC.\u00a0 Everyone else had Vermont, who is out.\u00a0 If UMBC wins, Lynch will take this title.\u00a0 If not, it will be Bry taking the title.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>CONFERENCE USA CHAMPIONSHIP:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nMemphis made the finals?\u00a0 Who knew that would happen?\u00a0 Well, all 8 of us did.\u00a0 Now, we will see if they can carry that impressive streak into next year&#8217;s conference season.\u00a0 Or, will the C-USA get a second team?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><u>#1 Memphis vs. #2 Tulsa<\/u><\/em>.\u00a0 The Tigers have Tulsa lined up next on their chopping block.\u00a0 Everyone has them winning this title, so the CTC here has been decided.\u00a0 Bry is going to take this championship this year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>MOUNTAIN WEST CHAMPIONSHIP:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nintro&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><u>#2 Utah vs. #4 San Diego State<\/u><\/em>.\u00a0 The Aztecs are probably in the tournament no matter what happens today, but it might be good for them to take the auto bid.\u00a0 Waters is the only one with SDSU winning this tournament.\u00a0 Bry, J, and Lynch all have Utah winning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>MAC CHAMPIONSHIP:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nA wild MAC tournament culminates today with the finals in Cleveland.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><u>#3 Buffalo vs #5 Akron<\/u><\/em>.\u00a0 The Buffalo Bulls and the Akron Zips.\u00a0 That is your MAC final, folks, and it&#8217;s fantastic.\u00a0 No one has either of these teams winning the title, so the 2009 CTC MAC championship is going to be shared by Ina and Doogan.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>MEAC CHAMPIONSHIP:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nMorgan St. has now been the dominant school in the MEAC for three seasons, and has yet to play in the NCAA tournament.\u00a0 Is this the year?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><u>#1 Morgan State vs. #3 Norfolk State<\/u><\/em>.\u00a0 Norfolk St., much closer to Winston-Salem, will probably need the home fans if they are going to knock off Morgan St. and go to The Dance.\u00a0 Waters is the only one to have Norfolk St. winning this tournament.\u00a0 Doogan had N.C. A&amp;T, who is out.\u00a0 Everyone else has Morgan St.\u00a0winning.\u00a0 If Norfolk pulls the upset, Waters will win this CTC title.\u00a0 If Morgan wins, Lynch will take this title.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>SOUTHLAND CHAMPIONSHIP:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nIn the Southland, the final is going to be the favorite vs. the underdog.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><u>#1 Stephen F. Austin vs. #6 Texas-San Antonio<\/u><\/em>.\u00a0 We will see if the Roadrunners can steal the bid again this year.\u00a0 J, Doogan, and Lynch all have teams that have already been eliminated.\u00a0 Everyone else has Stephen F. Austin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>SWAC CHAMPIONSHIP:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nAll year long it was clear that there were two teams better than the rest of the pack in the SWAC.\u00a0 And now, we get to see these two teams play for all the marbles.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><u>#1 Alabama State vs. #2 Jackson State<\/u><\/em>.\u00a0 Here we go.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re a fan of the SWAC, this is what you wanted.\u00a0 Other than Lynch, who had Southern winning this tournament, everyone has a horse in this race.\u00a0 Ina, Stri, and Waters have Alabama St.\u00a0 Bry, Doogan, J, and Alexi have Jackson St.\u00a0 If Alabama St. wins, Ina will take this crown by herself.\u00a0 If Jackson St. wins, then Alexi and J will share it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, here we go, folks.\u00a0 The 2009 CTC Title is on the line today.\u00a0 There are\u00a0a TON of points out there to be won.\u00a0 Oh, and some pretty good basketball games as well.
