{"id":3030,"date":"2012-07-31T12:47:04","date_gmt":"2012-07-31T16:47:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.broadstreetbelievers.com\/?p=3030"},"modified":"2012-08-02T11:28:54","modified_gmt":"2012-08-02T15:28:54","slug":"quick-hit-victorino-traded-to-the-dodgers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/broadstreetbelievers.com\/?p=3030","title":{"rendered":"Breaking:  Victorino Traded to the Dodgers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Phillies have completed a trade with the Dodgers that send <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/v\/victosh01.shtml?utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker&#038;utm_campaign=Linker\">Shane  Victorino<\/a> to LA for a ML reliever, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/l\/lindbjo01.shtml?utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker&#038;utm_campaign=Linker\">Josh  Lindblom<\/a>, and a AA reliever, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/minors\/player.cgi?utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker&#038;utm_campaign=Linker&#038;id=martin001eth\">Ethan  Martin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>My initial reaction is that I really like the return here because Victorino was not coming back next year, so to get any value is a plus.\u00a0 Lindblom has struggled a bit (particularly with the long ball), but he&#8217;s a strikeout guy with good stuff that could be a really solid 8th-inning guy.\u00a0 And, the best part is that he&#8217;s a bonafide ML reliever, he&#8217;s cheap, and he&#8217;s under team control for the next FIVE years.\u00a0 That&#8217;s just what the doctor ordered.<\/p>\n<p>The other guy, Martin, was the Dodgers 1st-round pick in 2008, so he&#8217;s got talent.\u00a0 He has struggled finding the strike zone, at times, in the minors, though.\u00a0 If he can figure that out, he could be another solid arm under cheap team-control for a while.\u00a0 As much as I hate to see anyone from the 2008 Phils go, this deal makes a ton of sense.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m going to take a little time to gather my thoughts before eulogizing the &#8220;Flyin&#8217; Hawaiian&#8230;&#8221;\u00a0 For now, it&#8217;s back to monitoring what the Giants are giving up for <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/p\/pencehu01.shtml?utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker&#038;utm_campaign=Linker\">Hunter  Pence<\/a> &#8211; the next chip to fall.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Phillies have completed a trade with the Dodgers that send Shane Victorino to LA for a ML reliever, Josh Lindblom, and a AA reliever, Ethan Martin.
