Florida 49<\/em>.\u00a0 The Bulls of USF took care of DePaul on Tuesday, but ran into a buzzsaw in G&#8217;town on Wednesday afternoon.\u00a0 The Hoyas move on face #1 Syracuse on Thursday.\u00a0 Doogan, Lynch, and KA missed this one.\u00a0 Everyone else got it right.<\/p>\n<p><em>#5 Marquette 57 &#8211; #13 St. John&#8217;s 55<\/em>.\u00a0 It was there for the taking, but the Johnnies could not give me an embarrasingly awful Kaplan.\u00a0 Damn.\u00a0 Marquette will move on to the quarters to take on Villanova.\u00a0 KA, both Lohses, Lynch, Ina, Doogan, and Stri all got this right.\u00a0 Lil Lohse and Doogan keep a semifinalists alive here.<\/p>\n<p><em>#7 Notre Dame\u00a068 &#8211; #10 Seton Hall 56<\/em>.\u00a0 Luke Harangody is back, and this ND team actually looks pretty good all of a sudden, as they take care of business against The Hall.\u00a0 They now will move on to play the MSG darlings, Pitt, on Thursday night.\u00a0 Waters, Lil Lohse, and KA missed on the Seton Hall upset.\u00a0 Teddy, Lohse, Lynch, and J all kept their semifinalists alive.<\/p>\n<p><em>#11 Cincinnati\u00a069 &#8211;\u00a0#6 Louisville 66<\/em>.\u00a0 Cincinnati has now won two games by 4 total points, but they&#8217;re still kicking, as they knock off Pitino and the Louisville Cardinals.\u00a0 They will now play #3 West Virginia (and former coach Bobby Huggins) on Thursday night.\u00a0 J, Alexi, and Teddy did a great job nailing this upset pick.\u00a0 KA and Lohse lost a semifinalist in L&#8217;ville.<\/p>\n<p>BIG EAST STANDINGS:<br \/>\n100 &#8211; Lil Lohse<br \/>\n20 &#8211; Bry<br \/>\n20\u00a0 &#8211; Waters<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>BIG XII OPENING ROUND<\/u><\/strong><em><u> (10 points each):<br \/>\n<\/u><\/em>Kansas City is the site for the Big XII tournament, which kicked off on Wednesday night.\u00a0 There was one huge upset that knocked off all 12 CTC&#8217;ers.\u00a0 Other than that, only Ina, Waters,\u00a0and Alexi hit the other three.\u00a0 Bry, Lohse, and Stri all went 1-for-4.<\/p>\n<p><em>#9 Texas Tech 82 &#8211; #8 Colorado 67<\/em>.\u00a0 A nice win for Pat Knight&#8217;s Red Raiders, as they end the CU season sooner than they had hoped.\u00a0 T.Tech now advances to play #1 Kansas.\u00a0 Ina, J, Alexi, and Waters got this mild upset.<\/p>\n<p><em>#12 Nebraska 75 &#8211; #5 Missouri\u00a060<\/em>.\u00a0 Madness!\u00a0 Not only did the Huskers knock off Mizzou, but they embarrased them in their home state.\u00a0 In a really surprising result, Nebraska will now face Texas A&amp;M in the quarters.\u00a0 No one got this pick right.\u00a0 Doogan, Lynch, and Lil Lohse lost semifinalists.<\/p>\n<p><em>#7 Oklahoma St. 81 &#8211; #10 Oklahoma 67<\/em>.\u00a0 OSU was up 20-2 and never looked back, just hammering the Sooners.\u00a0 The Cowboys will now face Kansas St. in a great quarterfinal matchup.\u00a0 J is the only one to miss this pick.\u00a0 Bry, Doogan, Lil Lohse, and Teddy all kept a semifinalist alive.\u00a0 Waters, Lynch, and Lohse all kept a finalist alive.<\/p>\n<p><em>#6 Texas 82 &#8211; #11 Iowa St. 75<\/em>.\u00a0 In a game that was close for most of the way, Texas did finally win over Iowa St.\u00a0 Quick note:\u00a0 how does Greg McDermott still have a job?\u00a0 With Brackens and Gilstrap, they should be at least the middle of the pack, if not contending for a conference title.\u00a0 But, 4-13 in conference?\u00a0 I know there have been injuries and close losses, but I still think that McDermott did a pretty terrible job this year.\u00a0 Oh well, I&#8217;m not a Cyclone fan, so whatever.\u00a0 Either way, we definitely get a much more intriguing quarterfinal game now as Texas takes on Baylor.\u00a0 In fact, think about that amazing nightime double-header in KC on Thursday.\u00a0 K-State vs. Ok State and THEN Baylor vs. Texas.\u00a0 Wow!\u00a0 Lohse, Stri, and Bry missed on this upset pick.\u00a0 Ina, J, Waters, and KA kept a semifinalist alive.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>BIG XII STANDINGS:<br \/>\n40 &#8211; #9 Washington St. 80 (OT)<\/em>.\u00a0 Okay, here we go&#8211;a pet peeve.\u00a0 Expect to hear this again at some point, but I HATE this new thing of fouling when you&#8217;re up three.\u00a0 It&#8217;s stupid.\u00a0 It opens yourself up to WAY too many bad things.\u00a0 Unless you can be sure to do it without the guy shooting, with less than :04 seconds or so, then fine, but enough with this new obsession.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not like no one has ever thought of it before, Jay Bilas.\u00a0 It happened last night.\u00a0 Wazzu was up three with :08 seconds left and they decided to foul Tajuan Porter.\u00a0 Of course, he hit both (because he shoots over 90%).\u00a0\u00a0Then, Wazzu got fouled, hit only one of two, and now they&#8217;re opened up to possibly losing in regulation.\u00a0 Fortunately (for them), Oregon went for the tie, got it, and won in OT.\u00a0 Okay, people, it&#8217;s stupid.\u00a0 Stop extending the game WHEN YOU&#8217;RE AHEAD.\u00a0 Please.\u00a0 I have a novel idea&#8230;PLAY DEFENSE.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re up three with only seconds left, it should be rather easy to defend the other team.\u00a0 THEY HAVE TO SHOOT A THREE.\u00a0 Sorry, it really bothers me&#8230;maybe because I had Wazzu in this one.\u00a0 Ina, Doogan, and Alexi also had the Cougars.\u00a0 Waters kept a semifinalist alive here.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>MOUNTAIN WEST OPENING ROUND<\/strong><em> (8 points):<\/em><\/u><br \/>\nThe M-West had their incredibly exciting play-in game last night in Vegas.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>#9 Air Force\u00a059 &#8211;\u00a0#8 Wyoming 40<\/em>.\u00a0 Yeah, so not only did these fans have to sit through a game\u00a0between Wyoming and Air Force, but they\u00a0didn&#8217;t even get 100 points between the two teams.\u00a0 Ugh.\u00a0 Hey, at least they were in Vegas.\u00a0 Bry, Ina, Waters, and KA all got this\u00a0upset.\u00a0 Stri lost a semifinalist here.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>CONFERENCE USA OPENING ROUND<\/u><\/strong><em><u> (6 points each):<br \/>\n<\/u><\/em>The C-USA played out their bottom eight teams on Wednesday before welcoming the top 4 on Thursday.\u00a0\u00a0J, Alexi, and Teddy went 4-for-4 on Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>#7 Houston 93 &#8211; #10 E. Carolina 80<\/em>.\u00a0 The Cougars offense looked good on Wednesday afternoon, but they did give up 80 points to the ECU Pirates.\u00a0 Now, Houston gets a shot at #2 Memphis, which has won four straight C-USA tournament titles.\u00a0 Everyone got this one right.\u00a0 J, Lohse and Lynch keep a semifinalist alive.<\/p>\n<p><em>#6 S. Mississippi 57 &#8211; #11 Tulane\u00a047<\/em>.\u00a0 A little closer than S. Miss would have liked, but they do hold on and beat a bad Tulane team.\u00a0 S.\u00a0Miss will now play #3 UAB in the quarters on Thursday.\u00a0 Stri, Waters, and KA all missed on this big upset pick.\u00a0 Doogan kept a semifinalist alive.\u00a0 Lohse kept a finalist alive.<\/p>\n<p><em>#5 Tulsa 73 &#8211; #12 Rice\u00a062<\/em>.\u00a0 The Golden Hurricane trailed for a lot of this game, even though they were playing in their home town against 1-15 Rice.\u00a0 But, they do win, and now they get a shot at #4 Marshall.\u00a0 KA was the only one that took the bait on Rice and missed.\u00a0 Most of the CTC has Tulsa in the semis.<\/p>\n<p><em>#9 C. Austin 77 &#8211; #7 UT-Arlington 54<\/em>.\u00a0 SFA started off the Southland with a bang, as they hammered UT-Arlington.\u00a0 Everyone got this one right.\u00a0 This was big for Waters, as he is the only one with the Lumberjacks winning this tournament.<\/p>\n<p><em>#3 Texas A&amp;M &#8211; Corpus Christie 78 &#8211; #6 UT-San Antonio 66<\/em>.\u00a0 Corpus Christie got a nice win in the second game, knocking off the Roadrunners of San Antonio.\u00a0 Only Stri, Alexi, Waters, and KA got this one right.\u00a0 KA kept a finalist alive.<\/p>\n<p><em>#4 SE Louisiana\u00a079<\/em>\u00a0<em>&#8211; #5 Texas St. 78 (OT).\u00a0 <\/em>A thrilling OT win for SE Louisiana moves them along to the semis on Thursday.\u00a0 Waters, Lynch, Lohse, KA, and Teddy all got this one right.\u00a0 Lohse and KA kept alive their champions.<\/p>\n<p><em>#1 Sam Houston St.\u00a062 &#8211; #8 Nicholls St. 57<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0Sam Houston, who dominated the SL in the regular season, actually struggled against a team that barely qualified for the SL tournament.\u00a0 But, a win is a win, especially in March.\u00a0 They move on to face SE Louisiana in the semis.\u00a0 Only KA gave Nicholls St. a shot here.\u00a0 Most of the CTC has SHSU winning this tournament.<\/p>\n<p>SOUTHLAND STANDINGS:<br \/>\n*16 &#8211; Waters (&#8217;09)<br \/>\n12 &#8211; Alexi<br \/>\n12 &#8211; KA<br \/>\n12 &#8211; Lohse<br \/>\n12 &#8211; Lynch<br \/>\n12 &#8211; Stri<br \/>\n12 &#8211; Teddy<br \/>\n8 &#8211; Bry (&#8217;08)<br \/>\n8 &#8211; Doogan<br \/>\n8 &#8211; Ina<br \/>\n8 &#8211; J<br \/>\n8 &#8211; Lil Lohse<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>SWAC QUARTERFINALS <\/u><\/strong><em><u>(4 points each):<br \/>\n<\/u><\/em>The SWAC started on Wednesday with a double-header with the top two teams in Shreveport, LA.\u00a0 And, it was MADNESS!\u00a0 An unbelievable upset of top-seeded Jackson St.\u00a0 No one got them both.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>#2 Arkansas-Pine Bluff 69 &#8211; #7 Mississippi Valley St. 66<\/em>.\u00a0 Though they didn&#8217;t know it at the time, AR-Pine Bluff needed a win to become the highest-seeded team left in the SWAC.\u00a0 But, they struggled mightily with a very feisty MVSU team, which led most of the way.\u00a0 Doogan and Stri both missed on this one and lost a finalist in the process.\u00a0 KA, Teddy, and J all kept the champion alive here.<\/p>\n<p><em>#8 Grambling St.\u00a065 &#8211;\u00a0#1 Jackson St. 57<\/em>.\u00a0 And, here is the shocker of the day.\u00a0 Jackson St. completely dominated this conference during the regular season, going 17-1.\u00a0 But, it&#8217;s all for naught.\u00a0 They will have to settle for the auto-bid&#8230;to the NIT.\u00a0 Grambling moves on to the semis on Friday.\u00a0 No one had this pick, and most people had JSU winning this tournament.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>GREAT WEST QUARTERFINALS <\/u><\/strong><em><u>(4 points each):<br \/>\n<\/u><\/em>The Great West tournament is even more meaningless than most because there is no auto-bid.\u00a0 But, it is not meaningless in the all-important CTC.\u00a0 The three quarterfinals matchups took place in Oren, UT, on Wednesday.\u00a0 Stri and Doogan both went three-for-three on the day.<\/p>\n<p><em>#5 Texas-Pan American 56 &#8211; #4 Utah Valley 53<\/em>.\u00a0 UT-Pan American took care of business against UVU in the first ever Great West tournament game.\u00a0 They advance to take on top-seeded South Dakota.\u00a0 J, Doogan, Stri, Lynch, KA, and Teddy all got the mild upset in this one.\u00a0 KA and Teddy kept finalists alive.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>#2 Houston Baptist\u00a080 &#8211; #7 Chicago St. 77<\/em>.\u00a0 Houston Baptist, the #2-seed in the conference struggled against the bottom-seeded Chicago St.\u00a0 But, as we always say, a win is a win, and HB moves on.\u00a0 J and Alexi missed this nice upset pick.\u00a0 KA keeps alive her champion.<\/p>\n<p><em>#6 N.J. Tech\u00a070 &#8211; #3 North Dakota 57<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0N.J.I.T., the owner of the longest losing streak in the history of D-I basketball (I think they still hold the record, but I clearly don&#8217;t feel like looking it up), wins their first postseason game against UND.\u00a0 J, Doogan, Stri, Alexi, Waters, and both Lohses nailed this upset pick.\u00a0 J, Alexi, and Waters all keep alive their champions.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>MEAC OPENING ROUND\/QUARTERFINALS <\/strong><em>(2 points each\/4 points each):<\/em><\/u><br \/>\nThat strange MEAC tournament hits its strangest day, as two separate rounds are played at the same place on the\u00a0same day.\u00a0 The afternoon game was an opening round game, while the nightime double-header were the two semifinals.\u00a0 Ina, Doogan, Lynch, Lohse, and\u00a0KA hit this strange three-for-three day.<em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>#6 MD-Eastern Shore 64 &#8211; #11 Coppin St. 58<\/em>.\u00a0 Coppin St. won this tournament as the 10-seed two years ago, but they could not muster enough this time, as they fall in the opening round to MD-ES.\u00a0 E. Shore now advances to the quarters to take on #3 S.C. State.\u00a0 Bry, Stri, Alexi, Waters, and Lil Lohse all went for the upset here.\u00a0 Waters must remember that run in &#8217;08, as he had Coppin in the semis.\u00a0 Doogan keeps his semifinalist alive.<\/p>\n<p><em>#2 Delaware\u00a0St. 75 &#8211; #7 Bethune-Cookman 55<\/em>.\u00a0 And in the first quarterfinal, Delaware St. flexed its muscles and pounded Bethune-Cookman.\u00a0 Teddy and J both had FAMU here, so they missed it.\u00a0 Everyone else got DSU.\u00a0 Waters and Lynch keep their champions alive.<\/p>\n<p><em>#1 Morgan St. 84 &#8211; #9 N.C. A&amp;T 57<\/em>.\u00a0 After watching #2 win big, #1 decided to win bigger.\u00a0 Morgan smashed N.C.
