Recapping Day 10:
\n<\/strong>So apparently this guy Messi is pretty good.\u00a0 After Argentina was unable to score for a stunning 90 minutes vs. Iran, Messi comes to the rescue with a perfect strike from 30 yards out to allow his team to sneak by 1-0 and maintain control in this group, with 6 points.\u00a0 Unfortunately, I missed the second half of the Germany-Ghana match, so I missed all four goals in the 2-2 tie.<\/p>\n

Today’s Games:
\n<\/strong>Noon: Belgium vs. Russia
\n3PM: Algeria vs. South Korea
\n6PM: USA vs. Portugal<\/p>\n

Today’s Drink:
\n<\/strong>Leffe Blond. <\/em>One of the more popular beers in Belgium but, this being Belgium, it ain’t exactly Bud Light.\u00a0 A Belgian abbey ale that, while not on the level of a Westmalle or many others, is still nice brew.<\/p>\n

Highlighted Game:
\n<\/strong>The final day of the second round of games before we get to the final group stage games starting Monday and continuing through to Thursday.\u00a0 I’m certainly interested in the Belgium-Russia tilt, but the big one here today has to be the USA and Portugal.<\/p>\n

So many interesting questions coming into this one for both teams.\u00a0 How good is Portugal, after being routed by Germany in their opener?\u00a0 How healthy is Ronaldo?\u00a0 How will they cope with losing three of their starters from last game to injury or suspension?\u00a0 For the US, how good are they, after being dominated by Ghana yet still pulling off the win?\u00a0 How do they fill the Altidore hole?\u00a0 Can they control the game more and show skill in possession, after only keeping the ball for 40% of the time against a Ghana team not known for playing a possession-style game?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
