PREFACE:\u00a0 The\u00a0question is\u00a0completely hypothetical (and will not influence\u00a0any actual gambling outside of a Vegas sportsbook), but the following point spreads are real:
\nSeattle (+8) at GREEN\u00a0BAY
\nJacksonville (+13) at NEW ENGLAND
\nSan Diego (+8.5) at INDIANAPOLIS
\nNew\u00a0York\u00a0(+7.5) at DALLAS\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Say, hypothetically, you were in a Vegas casino with $100 and you liked (in order of preference):\u00a0 New England, Dallas and Indianapolis to all cover this weekend.\u00a0 Which, of the following options, would you choose to allocate your $100?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

OPTION #1–STRAIGHT UP:\u00a0 throw $30 on DAL, $50 on NE and $20 on IND (the amounts, obviously can be moved around)
\n<\/em>–This option gives us\u00a0you break-even point with NE.\u00a0 If\u00a0NE covers,\u00a0you can lose both the other two and still break even.\u00a0 Plus, if\u00a0you hit NE, then any other victory is\u00a0profit.\u00a0 Further, if\u00a0you lose NE, then\u00a0you can still break even\u00a0by hitting both of the other games.<\/em><\/p>\n

OPTION #2–THE FULL TEASER:\u00a0 throw all $100 on a 3-team, 6-point teaser, which would give\u00a0you NE -7, DAL -1.5, IND -2
\n<\/em>–You have to hit all 3, but if\u00a0you do,\u00a0you make $180 profit.<\/em><\/p>\n

OPTION #3–THE TEASER-COMBO:\u00a0 $50 on the aforementioned teaser, $25 on DAL, $15 on NE, $10 on IND
\n<\/em>–This means that if\u00a0you hit the teaser (which gives\u00a0you point-flexibility),\u00a0you cannot lose more than $10.\u00a0 Further, if\u00a0you hit the teaser, then every game\u00a0you cover with the full spread is profit.<\/em><\/p>\n

OPTION #4–THE PARLAY COMBO:\u00a0 $25 on DAL, $35 on NE, $15 on IND, $25 3-team parlay
\n<\/em>–To make any money, you’d have to hit 2 of 3, but if\u00a0you hit one,\u00a0you hedge a little of your losses.\u00a0 Plus, if\u00a0you hit all\u00a03,\u00a0you hit a relatively large payday.\u00a0 Losing them all, obviously costs you all $100.\u00a0 Hitting only\u00a0DAL costs $50.\u00a0 Hitting only\u00a0NE costs $30.\u00a0 Hitting only IND costs $70.\u00a0 Hitting NE & DAL makes $20.\u00a0 Hitting\u00a0NE\u00a0& IND breaks even.\u00a0 Hitting\u00a0DAL & IND\u00a0costs $10.\u00a0 Now, if\u00a0you hit all 3,\u00a0you make $225 profit.<\/em><\/p>\n

OPTION #5–THE FULL PARLAY:\u00a0 $100 3-team parlay
\n<\/em>–If\u00a0you hit all 3 games with the regular spreads,\u00a0you make $600.<\/em><\/p>\n

OPTION #6–LET IT RIDE:\u00a0 $100 on NE
\n<\/em>–Since NE plays on Saturday, and the other two games\u00a0you like play Sunday,\u00a0you\u00a0decide to\u00a0just throw $100 on the Pats and then see what happens.\u00a0 if you win, you\u00a0then have $200 to play with on the\u00a0two Sunday games (and, most likely,\u00a0another Question of the Day column to read).<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
