2014 CTC Day Nine: Doogan, GrossJr, and Stritts Tie for the Win on a Quiet Day Nine; Mac Rises Up to Force a Flat-Footed Tie with Colton for the Overall Lead

For the first time since Day Three, no one broke 100 on a calm Day Nine.  But, the calmness is fleeting, as the chaos is about to be thrust upon us.  Doogan, GrossJr, and Stritts all won their first days of the contest and all moved up in the overall rankings.  Mac jumped up from 3rd to tie Colton for the overall lead, dropping Bry to 3rd.  Stritts flip-flopped with Stri at the back of the Top Five.  Doogan and Chris are just outside in 6th and 7th.  We still have 14 people within 100 of the leader.

The biggest move up the charts on the day was Alexi, who gained 5 spots to break into the Top Ten.  RDoc and Primm also cracked the Top Ten, each picking up 4 spots in the process.  Doogan, Becks, and Dave all gained three spots with solid days.  Lohse and GrossJr picked up a couple spots.

The biggest falls were Caleb, J, and PapaCim, who all fell 6 spots and all dropped out of the Top Eleven.  Gersh continued his recent free-fall, dropping another 5 spots on Day Nine.  Lazarow, who was already in the basement, had the roughest day, as he went 0-3 in C-USA, 0-2 in the SWAC, and didn’t get any of the champions that were crowned for our first goose-egg of 2014.

There were 4 more conference titles awarded on Day Nine.  Colton claimed the Horizon League, but missed out on two other chances for conference titles.  One was the NEC, where Lohse rose up and stole the crown with his fantastic Mount Saint Mary’s pick.  The other was the WCC, where he actually didn’t have a chance, but did finish second to GrossSr, who won the WCC title with a perfect bracket.  GrossJr also completed a perfect bracket on the day, as he and Stritts shared perfection in the Summit League.

And, here we go.  Day Ten is going to be only the beginning of total ridiculousness.  There are 32 games today with almost twice that scheduled for each of the next two days.  Many of the big-time conference kick off as well.  Today, we have the following conference continuing:

  • Patriot League championship
  • MEAC quarterfinals
  • SWAC quarterfinals
  • Conference USA second round
  • MAC second round

And, these 9 conferences getting underway:

  • ACC
