Stumpf is the only one to break 200 on a busy Wednesday. Alexi and J also have big days, and while it’s still early, it’s just late enough to think about the overall title, and Mac took a big step towards a possibly securing a second overall championship as he holds 54-point lead over Colton in 2nd place and 77.5 over Alexi, who jumped into 3rd place. Stritts maintains his 4th place spot (and takes the top spot in the Money Division). RDoc (second in the Money Division) slides into the Top 5. Bry and Stri both drop out of the Top 5, but remain within the arbitrary 100 points behind the leader of which there are only 9 now.
Alexi and J both made the biggest climbs up the standings on the day, each gaining 7 spots on the leaderboard. Our day’s winner, Stumpf, picked up 5 spots, while RDoc vaulted 3 spots into the Top Five.
Primm took the biggest fall on the day, as he lost 7 spots from 9th to 16th. Bry dropped 5 spots to 8th; Stri slipped 4 spots to 9th; and Chris dropped 3 spots to 10th. Gersh lost 3 more spots Wednesday, as he has fallen from 2nd to 18th in a matter of 3 days.
There was only one CTC conference championship handed out on Wednesday, and it went to RDoc, whose excellent American pick won him the Patriot League (a win he must be proud of as a man who respects quality mid-major basketball and knows there are few leagues that play a better brand of basketball – albeit without the athletes sometimes – than the Patriot).
And, now…on to Thursday. I have said many times since doing this that as great as the first two days of the tournament are (and, they are GREAT), there is something to be said for these two days possibly being as good, if not better, than those two days – it’s just that this week doesn’t quite get the noteriety. There are 61 games today – SIXTY-ONE – that is only a couple shy of the ENTIRE NCAA Tournament. There are only 16 next Thursday. And, all 61 games played today lead to games of tomorrow, as there will be nearly 40 games tomorrow, and no one has any idea what teams will be playing in them. What a freaking day! WOW!
Anyway, here is the ridiculous slate of games for Thursday, March 13th (* indicates first day of the tournament):
