So, aside from the BSB-style NFL preview, we debuted something last year where we went through every week of the NFL season (before the season started) and tried to figure out who would win, considering the teams involved, the place, the weather, the possible motivations, and other scheduling circumstances (like coming off of a bye or a short week, traveling a long way, West Coast teams at 1:00, looking ahead to big games the following week or let-downs from big games the prior week, etc.). This is important because we all know that, in a 16-game schedule with professional athletes, a bounce here or there can be the difference between making the playoff crapshoot with a shot at a Super Bowl and having to sit through an offseason with the disappointment of missing the playoffs altogether.
Looking back at last year (here is the link to Week 17 with the final standings), we actually did pretty well, correctly predicting 9 of the 12 playoff teams, including 5 of the 6 in the AFC, with the only miss was picking Houston instead of the Jets (which went down to the final game of the year to get the Jets in over Houston). Granted, there were a couple big misses (Jets were picked for 5-11 and the Redskins were tagged for 10-6), but overall it was a decent method, in retrospect.
This year, we are going to do the same thing, but we’re going to do two weeks per day, so we’re calling it the BSB Two-a-Days. Starting tomorrow, we will post a week at 11:00 am and another one at 7:00 pm. This will lead us all the way up to September 11–the day before the opening Sunday–when we will post Week 17 at 11:00 and the Playoffs at 7:00. So, tune in, starting tomorrow for a different NFL preview than you will get anywhere else.
