Cimorelli’s Question of the Day

Has there been a better team (in our lifetime), in any sport, than the 2007 New England Patriots?

The only team I could think of that even compares is the 72-win Bulls team. Other than that, I thought of the 1991-92 UNLV basketball team (Augman, Anthony, LJ and Anderson Hunt), but they didn’t even win the title, so if the Pats win the Super Bowl, they have to be out. And, I guess the ’98 Yankees may have an argument, but I still think this Patriots team has been more dominant thus far.

  2. STRI says:

No. And it’s not even close. I agree that the only other team in the same conversation is the 72-win bulls team and they weren’t nearly this dominant. This team is running up the score in the first half. I’ve never seen anything like it.

  3. The Fist says:

I think the best team of all time was probably the ’04 BM Eaters in the 3FL Fantasy League. Just sayin’

  4. STRI says:

Hey, I’m interested in hearing about why the eagles, who Mr. Cimorelli pegged as a 12-4 team at the start of the year, suck. Is it because your coach became a drug dealer?

  5. Doogan says:

I thought about this one and, yes, they are the best team of our lifetimes. I guess you have to mention the 80’s Lakers and Celtics, but I don’t really remember them. The ’88-’89 Oakland A’s and the ’98 Yanks are the best baseball teams. Who’s the best NFL team after this year’s Pats? I’d have to say the ’92-’93 Cowboys, as much as I hate that.

  6. Stockman says:

This is scary, especially as a Colts fan. As much as I hate Tom Brady, and the rest of those cheating bastards, I have to admit they are unbelievably good. My only problem with deeming them the best team in our lifetime, halfway through the season remember, is that they play in the worst division in football. They play the Jets, Dolphins and Bills twice, combined record thus far of 7-25. If they run the table and win the superbowl, i think that them being the best team of our generation is a legit argument, as much as i hate to say it. Too bad I wasn’t around for the
’75-76 Hoosiers, then it wouldn’t even be an argument.

  7. bry says:

Hey Stockman, how angry do you get with all the Isiah bashing that’s been going on these days? Or are Coach Isiah and Player Isiah two completely different people?

  8. Stockman says:

Isiah Hoosier-Isiah NBA Team/Organization destroyer are definitely two different entities. It’s a shame, but I think he’s the third worst person associated with the NBA, respectfully falling behind the two worst people on earth, Stephen Jackson and Stephon Marbury. By just simply being in the same city as Stephon Marbury I feel like an asshole, and Stephen Jackson is a co-captain of his team, that tells you how bad the NBA really is. I give Isiah another month here, then he’ll move on to destroy his fourth NBA franchise of his career.

  9. Stockman says:

I have to clarify that I love Isiah Thomas as a player, college or pro. I think he’s one of the toughest, smartest point guards, let alone players ever. I just think it’s a shame that his post-player career has been a display of arrogance and utter incompetence. Look at his three NBA stints. The Raptors, although in the best position, are still attempting to recover from Isiah era and the Pacers and Knicks are jokes. I really feel bad for Knicks fans, because they are fucked for a long time. Ok, I’m done. Is that a sufficient response Cimmy?

  10. BWL says:

how about the early 90’s duke teams? They beat the previously mentioned UNLV team. Hickory High, they were pretty good. The Dream Team

  11. Bear says:

’94 PSU team was arguably the best offense ever to play college football…just sayin’
