2014 CTC Day Seven: Caleb Booms to Win the Boom or Bust Sunday; Bry Jumps Back up into the Overall Lead

A huge day for Caleb, as he had 20 more points than anyone else on the day and almost 2.5 times more than last-place on the day.  Along with Caleb, Becks and Bry were the only other two to hit all three of the day’s championship games and finished tied for 2nd on the day.  Bry’s performance was good enough to bring him back up from 6th place to the #1 spot.  Gersh and Stri, who have both been rock-steady so far this year, finished tied for 4th on the day and climb up to 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in the overall standings.  Other than Caleb’s 8-spot climb and Bry’s 5-spot climb to the top, the biggest upward movers were J (14th to 8th) and Becks (21st to 17th).

The pendulum swung back for Dave, who lost the most spots on the leaderboard, falling from 8th to 15th.  Scoot dropped 6 spots to 21st and GrossSr fell 5 spots to 22nd.  PapaCim and Colton entered the day 1-2 in the overall standings, but both slipped considerably, as PapaCim fell to 5th and Colton to 7th.  WaTers also had a big fall from 12th to 16th.

Three CTC titles were awarded on Sunday, including J winning an amazing FOURTH A-Sun title with a perfect bracket.  Becks, Bry, and Scoot also went perfect in the A-Sun.  Stri took home his second Big South title, while PapaCim completed a victorious MVC campaign that netted him 203 points.

We head into Monday and Tuesday, which was often referred to as the “eye of the storm,” though in recent years it has picked up with these massively huge second-week tournaments having to start very early in the second week.  Still, it will seem calm when compared to the absolute CHAOS that is only about 2-3 days away.  Here is what is on the docket for Monday (13 games):

  • MAAC championship
  • CAA championship
  • SoCon championship
  • WCC semifinals
