2014 CTC Day Eight: Colton Dominates the Day to Take the Overall Lead

A HUGE day for Colton – winning the day by more than 50 points over 2nd-place RDoc – has catapuled him from 7th at the start of the day all the way to the top of the leaderboard entering Day Nine.  Bry slips to 2nd.  Mac and Stri flip-flop positions in 3rd and 4th, and Stritts makes a big move to enter the top 5 overall.  The top 3 are all separated by fewer than 20 points, and 13 people are within 100 of the lead, so it’s still WIDE OPEN.  Remember how many points are awarded in the big conferences coming up.

Aside from Colton, Caleb and RDoc also jumped 6 spots in the overall standings to 6th and 12th, respectively.  Stritts jumped from 10th to 5th, and Teddy climbed from the basement up 4 spots to 21st.  Becks picked up 3 spots.

The biggest fall of the day belonged to Gersh, whose last-place finish on the day dropped him from a comfortable 2nd to 10th.  PapaCim also took a tumble, dropping from the top 5 to outside the top 10.  Stumpf also fell 6 spots.  WaTers slipped form 16th to 19th.

There were 3 conference titles handed out on Monday, so 3 new CTC crowns were given out, as well.  PapaCim was the first to win multiple 2014 conference titles when he secured the SoCon title to add to his MVC crown.  WaTers completed a very impressive Colonial tournament with the title, and Mac (appropriately) won the MAAC.

Tuesday is a very calm day with only a dozen games on the CTC slate, including some simply atrocious basketball in the opening rounds of the MEAC and the SWAC.  But, Conference USA kicks off today, which is kind of interesting.  The best part of today is (a) getting ready for the next 5 AMAZING days and (b) focusing on four pretty interesting championship games.  Take a breath, do some errands, and get ready for 5 days of wall-to-wall hoops starting in about 24 hours.  Here is what’s on Tuesday’s slate:

  • WCC championship
  • Horizon championship
  • Summit championship
  • NEC championship
  • Conference USA opening round
  • MEAC opening round (con’t)
  • SWAC opening round
