They looked awfully good last night. Yes, I know that it was only one game and Lawson was out, but they dominated start to finish last night.

And, yes, I know the criticisms: no size, weak point guard play, no real star. But, in response to that: they have some UNBELIEVABLE shooters on that team, they may have the best senior in the country (Nelson), Greg Paulus has played A LOT of ACC minutes, and they do have Coach K.

Trust me, I DESPISE Duke as much as anyone, but last night, they looked very, very good.

They looked good…but lets be real here. They were unconscious from the three, something they are going to be hard pressed to match. They played a UNC team without Lawson, with Ellington & Green having off-nites (granted, Duke’s D helped this, they were unusually off) AND with Hansborough missing free-throws (something that NEVER happens). And UNC was still right there. I loathe Duke with the burning passion of a thousand fires, and give them credit for coming into the Dean Dome and winning. Putting that aside with ALL those things going against UNC, Duke didnt even win convincingly. So, no. They aren’t. They might not even be the best team in the ACC. Plus, I think Duke gets blown out if they have to play Memphis.

I don’t see Duke getting blown out by anyone, but I do think Memphis is definitely a better team. I’d also say Kansas and UCLA are better. If I had to pick between Duke and UNC, I’d go UNC. Sure, they lost last night, but Lawson is their second-best player and the backup PG (Thomas) did not look good and was forced to play 35 minutes. Duke has unbelievable shooting, at any given time they have at least 4 guys on the floor that can knock down a 3, but one cold shooting night in March and they’re going home.
